RT-8 POST-IRRADIATION COURSE OF GLIOMAS OF THALAMUS AND BRAINSTEM

Abstract Objective We retrospectively reviewed the post-irradiation course of cases treated with radiotherapy for gliomas involving thalamus or brainstem. Methods Thirty-seven brainstem from 2007 to 2021 in our hospital were included. Median age was 47 (19-79) years, and KPS at start irradiation 80% less 26 cases. Tumor localization only/brainstem only/both 20/9/8 Two did not undergo biopsy, others underwent surgery before irradiation. partial excision lesion near thalamus, 6 other than thalamus-brainstem, 27 biopsy only. The pathological diagnosis based on WHO classification time glioblastoma (GBM) 8 cases, high-grade glioma (HGG) 23 (including 9 diffuse midline K27M), low-grade (LGG) Results observation period 16(2-66) months. PFS/median OS/5-year OS rate 13 months/25 months/20% all 37 PFS 66/18/7 months LGG/ HGG/ GBM, 5-year 75/16/15%. Symptomatic cerebral edema associated tumor growth observed one GBM after In HGG, 7/23 VP shunting irradiation, case who ventriculostomy had a created worsening hydrocephalus 3 shunt immediately surgery.
